"I know what it feels like to lose everything—your movement, your independence, your certainty that tomorrow will be like today."
At twelve, Raquel was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome. She spent weeks in the ICU, completely paralyzed. That experience—being utterly dependent, living with pain, fighting to reclaim what her body once did effortlessly—became the foundation of her life's work.
Philosophy & Approach
For Raquel, rehabilitation is personal, not just clinical. Empathy and genuine connection matter as much as clinical knowledge. Understanding a patient's world, their thoughts, their fears—that's where healing begins.
"Knowledge is the foundation and the guide, but good energy sets the pace for achieving goals with each patient."
What sets her apart: she has lived it. She knows dependency's frustration, chronic pain's weight, and the small victories that mark the path back to function.
Why Veterans
Veterans push their bodies and minds to extremes most people never experience. The pain and challenges they carry deserve more than routine care—they deserve a therapist with empathy, expertise, and genuine investment in their progress.
Raquel has treated US veterans in Medellín for five years. She continues improving her English through formal study at Universidad EAFIT.
